Referral Day Anniversary

Before I go into the referral let me ask you to go back with me 2 days. It was Feb. 21 Madison and I were looking on the computer at the baby boys. This is something we liked to do quite ofter. Michael walks in and generally he will just look and go on. But, on this particular day he stopped and looked at a couple of the babies with us. There was one baby on there that he saw and said "hey, he's cute..maybe he'll be there when it's our time". I thought to myself okay and must admit that I thought it was awfully strange that he stopped and looked with us.Now, let me take you to referral day.

Ours wasn't the "traditional" I-171H in hand kind of thing. Make a long story short something was going on in Guatemala at the time so, instead of worrying or listening to others I called my agency and spoke with Sue. She was WONDERFUL!!!! She explained the situation to me and we discussed different options. I told her that GOD led us to Guatemala and that is where we shall stay. We then discussed the filing of the I600A. I told her we filed ours on Jan. 29th. At the time it was taking about 6 wks to get the I-171H. She asked if we were wanting a girl or a boy. I told her didn't matter. I found out prior to this from our case manager that since we didn't request we would more than likely receive a little boy. She proceeded to tell me that we were close enough to receiving our approval and if I wanted to we could look at the boys and choose one. I told her that we couldn't do that. She would have to choose for us. She then proceeded to tell me that there was a baby on there with updated pictures and asked if I would like info. on him. I told her that I would have to wait until my husband got home from work to look and then we would need to pray about it. Well, as soon as I got off of the phone with her I called hubby and told her what she said. He told me to go on and look. I was like are you SERIOUS and he said YES. So, with him on the phone I pulled up the site and there he was the MOST beautiful baby boy in the whole world. This was the same little boy that Michael commented on 2 days before. How amazing was that? That was TOTALLY GOD!!!! He immediately said to call Sue back and get more info. Well, I called her back and she already had it loaded up to send. She actually laughed a little bit..she knew there was NO way in this world that I could wait until the end of the day. We received TONS of pics, medical and a copy of his bc.

Prior to starting this process we had picked out the name Joshua for our son and I forget now our girls name. When we received his bc his birthmom had named him Dylan Josue. Well, come to find out later Josue is Joshua in English. A few of our other personal "funnies" are that Michael said if he ever had a son he didn't want him sleeping on Pooh because his daughters did. Well, in one of our many pictures of Joshua he was wearing Pooh and was laying on a Pooh blanket. In one of the photos he was sticking his little tongue out. As to say nah nah daddy I'm wearing and laying on Pooh. How FUNNY is that. One other thing that Michael said is that it would be GREAT to have a child's birthday NOT around Christmas. Madison and Hannah's birthdays are 3 wks after Christmas 3 days a part. We thought for sure that our son would be born in February. Well, Joshua's birthday is 12/10...3 wks before Christmas. So, do you see the humor??? I've always said that our GOD we serve can be quite funny. Oh yeah, I can't forget this one Joshua was born @ 10:25pm...Madison was born @ 10:51pm and Kortney @ 10:21pm.

Here is our most handsome son today...1 year later. Isn't he just the CUTEST little guy. We are truly blessed to have him in our lives.

God NEVER ceases to amaze me. I must admit I wondered for quite sometime prior to bringing him home how would he mesh into our family. I mean a new baby with 2 pre-teens and a 6 year old. I tell you though it just all worked out. Joshua came in and immediately found his spot. It's like he's been apart of us his whole life. Well, actually he has been here his whole life. God had placed adoption in my heart many years ago and after waiting, praying and seeking him he filled my heart a year ago today with his picture and now today a year later with his love. I am SO glad we waited for GOD and didn't go ahead without him.

Look at that handsome boy in his handsome clothes! How jealous I am that all you girls are getting together this weekend! Just a little too far for me to go! I'll be with you in spirit.

Lots of love,
