Joshua's 1st EVER 4th of July!!!!!!!!!!

We had a great time celebrating with our family. My brother, nephews and my parents came over and spent the evening with us. The only thing that could have made this day any better would have been having Kortney, Hannah and daddy with us. Kortney spent this 4th with her dad, Hannah with her mom and Michael well, he had to work. I know the girls had a great time but, were sadly missed at home.

We started the evening off by grilling some GOOD hamburgers and hot dogs. I emphasized the word GOOD because I grilled them. I must admit my dad was quite thrilled with my grilling.:) We had all the "fixins" such as baked beans, chips, cole slaw, potato salad, fruit salad, deviled eggs and macaroni salad. Oh, and my AWESOME homemade pickles. First, time I've ever made them and they turned out GREAT!!!! As stated dad was impressed by my grilling...hubby was VERY impressed by my pickles.

While I watched Joshua eat this evening tears started streaming. It was this time last year that we were planning our 2nd visit trip to see him. Now, here we are a year later. This sweet little boy that God has entrusted US with is sitting at our table. Even though Joshua's been home for almost 9 mths. the PURE MIRACLE of him being home is still SOOO overwhelming. To know that God had chosen US to be his parents is more than my mind can comprehend. Just as I think there's NO way in this world that I could LOVE this little boy anymore than I do it comes out. An overwhelming burst of LOVE, JOY and PURE AWE comes over me. Okay, I better stop here before I start boohooing again. :)

After we finished eating everyone sat around a talked for a while then it was time to head out for fireworks. The kids had a great time using there "poppers", sparlers and watching the fireworks. All in all Joshua did really well. At first he was a little bit scared of the sparklers but, after watching the kids a few times he grew to like them. He really enjoyed our neighbors HUGE ones that went off in the sky. Thankfully, I saved some fireworks so, we will have a 2nd show on Monday night when daddy is home so, he can partake with Joshua and his fireworks. :)

I do hope everyone had a great 4th with there families. Please, check out the photos of my sweet prince celebrating at home with his FOREVER family.

Hey, now, what is that Beth up to?!? It looks like I may need to defend Samantha's territory!

Love that shirt. There are some precious pictures in that slideshow. Made my hurt a little that I can't be there to live life with your family. These long-distance realtionships are kind of a bummer!

Love you!
