Tonight as we sat and watched the opening ceremonies of the Olympics I felt different. I felt changed.
As the 12 people representing Guatemala passed on our tv I felt a sense of pride. Actually, not just pride but, honor. Honored to not only had the great opportunity to visit such a wonderful country but, honored to have our own little Guatemalan treasure at home with us. Four years ago when this country would have passed on the tv I may or may not have been watching. I more than likely would have been flipping the channels waiting for USA USA. But, this year was different. We all waited in anticipation of seeing Guatemala. Actually, just hoping that we would see them there. Hoping that we would see just a glimpse of not only the beautiful people but, there flag. When Michael noticed on the side that Guatemala was coming up I quickly called my parents to MAKE SURE they were watching. We were all in the room and as soon as we saw them we started clapping.
It just wasn't Guatemala but, several other countries. Through this whole process I have been blessed to find a world outside of ours. A world that I knew existed but, sadly did not want to be apart of. A world full of beautiful people and customs. As we waited for Guatemala I noticed several other countries such as Malawi, Kazahstan and several others. Countries if it wasn't for this adoption may have just passed me by.
I thank God this year at these Olympic games for opening my eyes to the beauty of other countries. I yet again am in awe of this child that the Lord has so graciously entrusted us with. THANK YOU GOD for not only granting me this child but, his country also.
Here's a picture of Joshua just hanging onto his little flag.
Waving it PROUDLY!!!!!!!
Having fun after seeing his country go by. Oh, btw YES that is chocolate on his shirt. We have an ice cream truck that comes by the house every Friday night so, he just HAD to have an ice cream sandwich. :) After a little Shout it will be good as new. TRUST ME this IS NOT the 1st time.
Isn't this just the CUTEST shirt ever????
Thank you SO much Sharon for this amazing shirt. We LOVE it!!!!!!!!!
